Dance Minor

The dance minor provides education and training for students who have an interest in learning the creative and technical skills essential to the artistic process of dance. The minor presents experiences for all who love dance, from beginning enthusiast to skilled dancer. The minor program requires completion of 22 credit hours distributed among dance courses in technique and movement theory (10), history (3), creative process (3), and performance and production (6). Dance minor students also have opportunities to audition, perform, understudy, and work backstage for the Division of Theatre and Dance plays, musicals, and dance concerts.

Dance Minor Requirements: 22 credit hours
A minor is a secondary area of study outside of the major program of study with a structured curriculum composed of at least 18 semester credit hours of which at least 9 hours must be at the 3000-level or above.
Technical Skills and Movement Theory
Ten credit hours from the following (at least two different courses must be taken at the advanced level): History and Cultural Aspects of Dance
Three credit hours from the following: Creative Process
Three credit hours from the following: Performance and Production
