The Department of Exercise and Sport Science offers the Doctor of Philosophy in Sport Physiology and Performance with concentrations in Sport Physiology and Sport Performance. The program offers a unique integration of traditional classroom instruction with hands-on, field-based experience working directly with athletes.
Program Admission Requirements
In addition to the Graduate School admission requirements, applicants for the Ph.D. in Sport Physiology and Performance graduate program must submit:
- Vita or resume;
- Personal essay explaining career and educational goals and general area of interest for the dissertation;
- A master’s degree (thesis preferred) in biology, Exercise Science, or related discipline.
- 3.4 overall GPA for applicants with a master’s degree;
- A personal or phone interview with members of the admission committee. Factors to be considered in the interview include academic success, evidence of leadership skills, writing skills, computer skills, and oral communication skills.
Residency
All students in the Ph.D. in Sport Physiology and Performance graduate program are required to have at least two semesters of full-time residency.
